bio practical

today was biology practical. rumours were spreading around that a possible peanut and clitoria would come out, then... when i went in it was like WHOAH whats that with a prawn!! jeesh. we were supposed to draw the whole prawn in the first part of the question and a close up of the tail in the second part, i thot my drawing looked like E.T with the squarish shapes for its body. NO FAIR!! art students have an advantage over other students!! ok thats for the second part.

for the first part, we were given four samples a, b, c, d. they were supposedly human "urine, saliva, bile and blood plasma" lol its damn wierd la. lucky it wasn't actual urine or i would cry man! haha. gabriel said he tried it and that it was chinese tea.. :-/ i wonder if it is just me, or all biology practicals can be finished within half the time limit of an hour and a half...

physics practical on tuesday was ok i guess, i think i got the first part of the paper correct with something like 1.21 newtons. i got 6 ohms for the second part!! arg i thot it was kinda ok until when i went to the holding room to ask around and everyone told me 8+ ... sigh~ oh well...

is there always sure to be a leak of the questions? for the chemistry practical, TCHS apparently leaked the question, and for bio and chem, there were many rumours going around about the questions coming out also...

oh, any one interested in buying my used textbooks? tell me man! i give good price... some of my books are like new! heheh...

feeling like a fool

woke up at 5:30am today to go to malaysia in the morning to play golf, i really didn't see what was about to happen later in the day after we had our dinner.

i got so little sleep the night before that i really couldn't concentrate on my game today... i missed about 8 two-feet putts!! how dumb is that. i was really like a zombie playing golf! i played 49-44 and finished 93 so sad... after golf, we had dimsum lunch at the hotel side... the four of us (my parents, my brother and i) ate until we were so full and it cost only RM60 !! left the club and went home by woodlands checkpoint, at least it was not hot today!

in the evening, i went to town with my parents for dinner. i had chicken rice AGAIN! argh im getting kinda sick of it already man... its the forth time i had chicken rice in a week! gosh. after eating, i dragged my parents around looking for a pair of board shorts for myself. i went to pacific plaza for a look but didn't find anything that appealed to me. as we were walking out of pacific plaza, i remembered that i saw something nice at wisma atria so we decided to take a walk there.
BUT as we were walking outside lido, there was this fucking fat shit who came along and said that she had some peel and win cupons that are eligible for people who are above 30 (or something like that i cant remember) and are married. my parents were eligible so they just took 2 and peeled. one said that we won either a $20 tangs voucher or 2 movie tickets at lido and the other one said "digital camera or 7 day free trip to thailand". that "promoter" or rather "con-woman" said "are you always so lucky? the digital camera is so rare you are very lucky that you have won that! I'm also very happy that you have won it as for every digital camera won under my name i get $50! i can even treat you haagen dazs icecream!" i hope she will rot in hell for lying to us and cheating us of our time. so it ended up that we "won a digital camera and a 7 day trip to thailand". i guess we were greedy and decided to part with our 90 minutes (that ended up to be 3 hours) and sleep through the thing.

after saying that crap to us, she led us to the lift at shaw towers to get to their office. at the office, we were led into some hall that has the aircon at freezing temperatures and also blares damn loud music. i think that's their tactic to pressurize people into parting with their money to join their stupid membership. when we sat down, another "sales representative" came to talk to us about the benefits and what not. this sales rep was like so proud that she was a divorcee and stuff, keep talking about her 2 children from her first marriage and about her coming marriage in december. i think she's a fucking slut who change husbands like changing clothes. she kept stalling for time when we asked how much the membership was saying stuff like "wait while i explain the benefits before i tell you the price". at the end of like 3 hours of waiting and probing for the price, she finally told us it was $29000 for a standard membership. i was like WTF?! with that money i can go buy 3 more memberships for my club in malaysia.

after telling her that the price was a concern, she came up with another "price plan". it was a "today only" thingie that sounds dubious right from the start. firstly, it costs $16000. next, the benefits for the gold membership seems to be better than that of the standard membership. what kind of legitimate business would have such kind of offers? its like 9pm at night, how can they expect people to make a decision to part with $16000 just like that? somemore its like a lifetime membership. i doubt that the company will stay open even for the next two years man... the divorcee sales rap then brought us to a computer teminal to show us their website to see what their company is doing and stuff and finally showing us a website to prove that their company was not a fraud. the web site was http://www.bbb.org. its not even a singaporean site how the fuck can they expect us to trust them? whats more its like $16000 and not $1.60 . i totally hate it when people say that things were "today only" just like those ang mo kio handphone shops. those fuckers at those handphone shops will be like "you sure you want to buy ah? they then will quote some rediculously low price and say that its for today only". then if you go home to think over it and decide to get it the next day, they will pretend that they don't know anything about the low price that they quote and laugh at you.

after sitting in for three hours, i realized that their "digital camera" was actually a cheapskate digital camera that i think costs less than $3. the resolution is even lousier than the camera i have on my phone and it does not even have a display screen. and their 7 day trip to thailand required us to give a $45 "booking fee" per person. i bet that if the $180 was sent there for my whole family to go, the $180 would be gone and lost forever. so, my parents have decided to not send anything there as they are like so dubious. after i left the hall, i saw the boss of the place at the lift lobby and kicked the dustbin loudly to show him that im pissed at him for wasting my time. i wonder if there would be some crazy guy who get so pissed with them and end up burning down their office... hmmm... oh yeah, thank goodness my parents were not brain-washed by them and decide to part with their $16000... WHEW!

next time, if such fuckers approach me again telling me that i won stuff that they wont give exact details and instead just give vague ideas, i would give them a warning before accepting, see if they would change their minds hehehe.. i would say something like "if i discover that you lied to me and i see you again i will chop your whole family" hehehe. jkjk, i would probably just try to avoid them so that there wouldn't be another repeat of such incidents.

anyway, lesson learnt. i would never ever believe such stuff again... there is no free lunches in this world.

JC open houses

for almost every open house that iv been to, air rifle is a must! hehe, i think im already hooked onto airrifle, so nice!! of all the jc open houses that i have been to, HCJC seems to be the best of them (iv been to RJC, HCJC, NJC, SA and Ac).

hwa chong apparently is the top jc and has the best campus i have seen. Its even better than AC which is like the "rich people school". at least the school fees for hcjc is still at $24 per month even though its an independant school . its students are also friendly and it seems to me that hcjc is one of the most welcoming jcs that i have been to. although i didn't get to talk to any teachers there but the students seem friendly enough.

the other jc that has given me a good impression would be nj. although the campus for nj is a little old, it is a very active and united community. even the teachers there seem to know what they are doing! the geography teacher seems like a nice guy when we talked to him in the library. he is able to capture our attention and at least he knows what he is saying, unlike mrs. woo. i don't really like teachers like e.woo who like to pick on people and just won't admit her mistake even though she is so obviously wrong. alright i'll stop talking about her. it just piss me off to even hear her name. the teachers at njc seem so friendly and are able to relate to the students, it kinda make me want to go there next year. (oh yeah, it even has its own air-rifle range! hehe)

at rj, it rained cats and dogs... that probably made it worse. the roof was dripping and at one particular corridor there was a super strong wind blowing. an rj gal standig there had her skirt blown up @_@! the steps leading down to the air rifle range also were also very slippery and sean fell down!! wahaha xP alright i won't be so mean.. all this about the lousy campus will probably change when they shift to their new campus next year. i hope i can get in with my o level results as my prelim results are sooo far away from their cut off! the air rifle range at rj was also by far the most ventilated one (every single one else that i went to i was sweating my ass off)

apparently there might be a resitting for the chemistry practical... how screwed up is that? anyway i doubt that cambridge would redo it because they have to resend in the chemicals and stuff again... it seems that everyone knew what was coming out beforehand except me !! sigh~

i still don't really know where i would want to go to next year.. but i guess im stuck at cjc with the crap results that i got.

chemistry practical...

today's the first practical for the o levels. its the first titration with calculation that i have actualy done in the last two years, and for that i feel that it wasnt that all bad. i actually did the calculations afew times cos i had wierd answers for the first couple of times, i had things like negative Mr and excessively small Mr also. so i just adjusted the calculations around and viola! i had the answer haha.

also, for the second part, the q.a. part, i wasn't totally sure about my answer of sulphate so i did the test for it on all 3 chemicals just to be sure. the conclusion that we had to give was just "the anion present in R is _____ " so i dunno why sooo many tests were required. the other 2 chemicals S and T were also useless. dunno why they put those in... maybe they ran out of questions ? haha. i also dont understand why the steps in the paper today was a little wierd. normally i thought that to test for sulphate of nitrate, adding nitric acid to the sample before adding silver or barium nitrate would be correct? today's paper was like "to a sample of r/s/t , add barium/silver nitrate and leave to stand for a few minutes. next add nitric acid" hmm maybe they are out to get people who wait and wait without seeing any results for the first part...

argh i also got ammonia on my hands!! how sick is that? i forgot that i added aqueous ammonia into one of the test tubes. the result was so faint that i was not sure and decided to cover the top with my thumb and shake (argh). the sodium hydroxide was also terrible, it made my hands so slippery during the prac and when i came out of the lab, my hand was like snake skin. luckily its back to normal now.

after the practical, a whole group of us (eugene, ashley, clifton, nicholas, gabriel, sean, jonathan, mark, kevin, sherman, ian and myself) crowded into the chicken rice stall at far east plaza. whoo the chicken rice there is damn nice, i never expected something from a shopping centre to be so good (or maybe i was hungry), i really must go there again with my parents, just to confirm that its that good.

i thought that there would be many people going back to school after that to study. end up only eugene, clifton, nick and i went back. i don't know why i can't seem to get myself into the mood of studying today and ended up only finishing one chemistry paper1 and lazing around the rest of the time. at about 6pm, i felt like going to the canteen for a drink and asked eugene to come along with me. the moment we stepped out of the room, eugene pointed to the top floor and said "i feel like going there to take photo again" i agreed and went back to call clifton and nicholas go join us and went up to take photo. i had my photo taken when i was standing outside the railing ont he third floor :D

after that we decided to take a walk to the graveyard outside school and walk in for the first time. we walked up the steps and took some photos of school from there. upon reaching the entrance, we freaked out and decided that we should not be there haha. we then crossed the road to the vet to take a look before returning to school. at school, we decided to walk around and go to places which we have never been to before during the last four years in SJI...

liquefied brain

ahhh!! chem practical is tomorrow and i cant remember nuts!! i think my brain must have liquefied already due to all the alcohol... think i can even hear it slushing around if i listen hard enough.

whoah, over the past 2 weeks i have done like more work than what i did throughout the whole year! i had this enormous pile of worksheets that came in after the prelim results were released. now theres only about less than 1 inch left !! :D i spent everyday in the past 2 weeks in school from morning to around 9-10 pm omg!

damn why does mom keep telling me about yoga stuff? recently she just joined a yoga class and everyday she's like "if you can't sleep, try to control your breathing... i learnt that from yoga class! even the yoga books say that" also theres "try alternate breathing, where you breathe in through one nostril and breathe out through the other. this helps in slowing down your breathing" i wonder if that works... hmm...

4 years of SJI has come to an end...

LOL whoo!!! finally !! a new post!! hahaha...alright. iv got 14 points for prelims and i think it sucked. hmm now that iv graduated from SJI i think that im really gonna miss it.. especially all my friends and the teachers... i will never forget many memorable events that happened over this four years such as our gratuation ceremony and para-liturgy. never will i forget also the constant "Harloh!" and "Its in your nhots!" of Mr. Chin and the occasional "oiack" of Mr. Tung. also the constant irritation of 408 by people like gabriel and party by stamping on the floor haha :D

the o levels start with the practicals over the next two weeks and theory after that. How time flies!! it was like only not awhile ago when i was a new student in SJI on the first day of school unsure of whether to tuck in my shirt or not (because i was from St Michael's) and where to go for assembly and all... also going to the class for the first time in SJI.. i can also remember that i had to do a self introduction before the class! before you know it, people from the class of 404 2004 would all go their separate ways into different streams in JCs and also different faculties in the universities all over the globe on the different continents. in 10 years, the class of 2004 would return to their alma-mater for a class reunion, would everyone still remember the fond memories shared during their 2 years together in SJI? would everyone still recognise each other ? All the best to the class of 2004 for the upcoming o level examinations!
